MICHAEL NOLTEMEYER is the founder, president, and editor-in-chief of North Star Editing. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Yale University, where he spent four years working in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Then he spent a year in a dual-degree M.D.-Ph.D. program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine before leaving to focus on writing and teaching instead. In 2015, he completed a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at the University of New Mexico, where he served as an award-winning teacher of composition, creative writing, technical writing, and literature. He now teaches writing at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California.

Over the past ten-plus years, Michael has gained a substantial following through word-of-mouth recommendations while specializing in application essays, resumes, and corporate communications.

Michael's experience and expertise includes:

  • Application essays and other admissions materials for students admitted to top colleges, business schools, law schools, medical schools, and graduate and professional programs of all kinds.
  • Resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles for college students and CEOs alike.
  • Marketing and sales copy for national and international companies, in which capacity his writing was published (and continues to appear) in almost every liquor store in the country.
  • Press releases, including the announcement of a multimillion-dollar exit for a startup that retained his services.
  • Interview coaching and specific answer preparation, drawing on his experience as a Yale interviewer.
  • Preparation for the reading and writing sections of the SAT, ACT, MCAT, and GRE, drawing on his experience as a test preparation tutor for Kaplan and The Princeton Review.
  • In-person and online workshops for personal branding, resume writing, admissions, interviewing, and more.
